HGV Driver at Island Carriers
Island Carriers is a small, dedicated team where everyone is treated with respect. We help each other and support each other in all aspects of our working life. Our aim is to deliver the very best customer service to all our customers and the community. You will be required to work occasional Sundays and Bank Holidays. Early starts and late finishes are often required.
As an Island Carriers HGV driver you will be expected to do both lorry and van work.
Requirements:
- You must be a team player.
- Good communication skills.
- Problem solving.
- Flexible attitude.
- Experience of working within a customer facing/focussed environment.
- A full clean driver’s licence is essential. HGV is required.
- You must be able to work alone effectively and in a timely fashion in addition to and as part of a team and always to a very high standard giving our customers a great service.
- Record all work undertaken on a driver’s job sheet, including where and when luggage was delivered, so that customers can be charged correctly.
- Regular cleaning of vehicles and filling in of maintenance books for audit to project a positive company image. Ensuring van daily checks are done and any repairs that are needed are reported to your manager.
- Uniform is supplied with an expectation of clean presentable image of staff.
- Attend all training offered that is relevant to your role, on occasions this may mean staying away from home.
- Flexible approach to hours worked, including early starts, late finishes and split shifts at busy times.
- Responsibility for vehicles driven and immediate reporting of any damage caused including to other road users.
- Offer customers both internal and external great customer service in all dealings, reporting back to your line manager any good and bad experiences.
- Attend review and appraisals with line manager, agreeing and working to specific objectives for personal development.
- Attend all team meetings, offering constructive input, adopting new methods of working as agreed.
Qualifications and experience:
Must have
- HGV
- Full driver’s license
