The Isles of Scilly Steamship Group has announced the membership of its Steamship Advisory Board (SAB) – eight residents of the Isles of Scilly who, over the coming year, will help to shape the future of the Group.
The Group received a large number of applications from people living across the islands to join the SAB. Following a formal, staged process, eight individuals were appointed to the inaugural board.
The newly appointed members are: John Peacock, Tristan Hick, Fred Ticehurst, Andrew Walder, Georgia May, Mark Cheshire, Avril Mumford and Stuart Moore. It’s planned the board will meet quarterly, with the first meeting planned for 15th March.
By joining the board, community members have the opportunity to input into decision-making processes as well as reflecting on the experiences of customers of the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group.
As each meeting will be chaired by a Director from the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group, with a Vice-Chairman chosen by the board, members can also give feedback to the company.
Andrew May, Chairman of the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group, said: “It was most encouraging to see the large number of applications from across the islands, and I warmly welcome these new members to the inaugural Steamship Advisory Board.
“My colleagues and I are looking forward to hearing feedback and thoughts from the board about our services and upcoming projects. We truly value the opinions of islanders and we wanted to create this additional forum for residents, so that ideas about the services which are so important to our community can be heard and acted upon.”
